London Prepares

With world-class venues largely complete, ahead of the Summer Olympics; the sporting world is taking the opportunity to host events in these arenas now.

I was lucky enough to attend the FINA diving world cup, allowing me to not only see the new aquatics centre, but watch the greatest divers in the world compete. As a child I participated in the sport myself and watching these athletes (a few of whom I trained with aged 10) compete was amazing.

I watched two events, the men’s 3m springboard final and the women’s synchronised 10m platform final. There was British representation in both events, with 17-year-old Jack Laugher who achieved a lifetime best but sadly no medal, and Tonia Couch and Sarah Barrow taking a bronze medal to the delight of the spectators.

Unsurprisingly the Chinese continued to dominate, taking gold and silver in the men’s event and gold in the women’s never looking as though they would let their respective leads slip.

A few pictures are below with videos coming soon…
