The collar collection

The Victoria and Albert museum has long been a treasured London attraction. But museum exhibits aside, I have just discovered that they have a beautiful range of jewellery available at their shop, and the collars below are completely wonderful.

I’m not entirely convinced I could pull this Sculpted Collar off, but at £20 it might be worth the gamble

The Peter Pan Bead Collar is £20 as well

The Black Sequin Collar is £10

Best of the Baftas

My picks of the best looks at the Bafta’s are Made in Chelsea’s Millie Mackintosh who looks incredible in Lanvin, and is not picked just because I am definitely on team Millie in the Millie/Rosie debate! Also looking amazing are Melissa George in Armani Prive and Emilia Fox in Hartnell Haute Couture. What do you think?

1950’s Fashion

Last week The World of Clementine Ray and I took a trip to Selfridges to see part of their Big Britannica exhibition. The free exhibition features dresses from the 1950s, inspired by Vogue editions fom 1951 – 53, and the use of patterns in a post war ‘make do and mend’ culture.

The outfits are stunning; glamorous silhouettes that I think suit everyone, I’m inspired to get my sewing machine out of storage, attend a class or two and maybe have a go…

Some favourite pieces are below, I’m particularly in love with this skirt suit:

My only comment would be that I wish there were a few more pieces to make the exhibition larger. Though Selfridges has so much going on you that a wander around afterwards more than served to keep me entertained!

I wish I were going!

Little London Observationist

The first thing that hits you when you walk into the middle of the main Chelsea Flower Show pavilion is the smell.

Sweet, mingling Springtime scents of roses, lilies, tropical flowers…

I was lucky enough to be offered a press ticket to this year’s event. The Chelsea Flower Show is, in fact, sold out as usual.

So I went down to the show grounds on Sunday with my camera and took some photos to share on LLO.

The garden in the photo above (and the one with the water a few above that) is put together by Homebase for the Teenage Cancer Trust with cedar panels. There’s some photos on the Chelsea Flower Show website of the garden as a work in progress.

Apart from the smell, what hits you when you walk in is all of the vibrant colours!

The photo above is part of the very…

Tilda Swinton and tailoring

Tilda Swinton is queen of red carpet tailoring, the looks below, particularly the suit have made Tilda my best dressed of Cannes this year.

Met Gala as Fashion Oscars?

Bianca Brandolini D’adda clearly has the best name, and in Dolce and Gabanna looked incredible! I now live purely to find a moment in my life where it would be appropriate to sparkle half as much as this…

Other lovely dresses were seen on Emma Stone (Lanvin), Ginnifer Goodwin (Monique Lhullier), Carey Mulligan (Prada) and Lily Collins (Valentino)

And not to harp on about Kristen Stewart being considered the best dressed celebrity by Glamour UK (OK technically the readers) but really? really? really?!

Wild shades

My dream sunglasses. I have tried to limit the things I show in this blog to things that I might be able to afford – for my own sanity – which roughly works out to no piece over £100, and show cheaper versions of designer items. But these sunglasses have made me fail this task. They are just too beautiful for words, and imitation would be pointless.
