Graduate Fashion Week

Last week I was lucky enough to be invited to Graduate Fashion Week gala show and reception, held at Earls Court in London.

The creme de la creme of fashion students are selected to show a mini collection and compete for a range of prizes, with judges including Matthew Williamson and Julian MacDonald. The Gold Award comes with £20,000 and a great start in the industry.

It was Chloe Jones of the Bath Spa University who took the main prize alongside the womenswear award, for her gothic take on sportswear.

One of my favourite collections and the winner of the International Award was Karen Jessen, from Esmond, Berlin for her collection of bright knitwear.

Other highlights included the free champagne and goodie bags! Some of my photos from the night are below:

Princely dressing

With Prince Charles opening Men’s Fashion Week in London this week, what better time to acknowledge that the man knows how to wear a nice suit. Made-to-measure savile row tailoring doesn’t hurt of course…

Now and Next – A Summer of sport

With the Olympics and Paralympics fast approaching in the diamond jubilee year, the GB bandwagon is going strong. High street retailer Next have got involved with the creation of some scarves for supporters, on sale in stores with all profits being donated to the British Olympic Association.

The scarf for the paralympics is below, and the blog challenge is to style it.

What I really wanted to do was put it on my cat Dylan so that he could wear it as a cape, but unfortunately Dylan is both against being manhandled and clearly not very patriotic… seriously, imagine the scarf on this cat, epic! (picture courtesy of ‘my cat wears clothes’)

With Dylan letting the side down I was forced to photograph how I would actually wear the scarf…

French Open finest

I am a big tennis fan, with Nadal playing in the French Open final today against Djokovic I have been supporting him 100%, but in terms of sports clothes, there is a clear King and Queen of the court.

Maria Sharapova and Roger Federer, no matter what you think of their tennis, you can’t deny they look good playing it, both sponsored by Nike.
