Hideous or Amazing: Rihanna goes hard

Bad news Versace, an extensive poll spanning continents and at least three people has declared the £410 World Cup t-short hideous by a margin of 60% to 40%. (I expect a grovelling apology and offer of free stuff in my inbox within the hour).

But this week there could only be one outfit to pick, because all other ‘dresses’ paled into insignificance next to the inimitable Rihanna at the CFDA Fashion Awards, where incidentally, she was presented with the 2014 Fashion Icon Award by Anna Wintour.

I’ll let the pictures do the talking…

Hideous or Amazing: Versace Loves Brazil, but do you love Versace?

Bjork was a huge winner, 75% (of the probable four voters?) felt that we should all wear swan dresses on a daily basis. Sewing machines at the ready.

This week is a steal, for just £410 you too can love Brazil with Versace (in fact I’ve heard it’s the only way to love Brazil…)

Hideous or Amazing: you decide

[15/5/14 the people have spoken: HIDEOUS]

As a Friday treat I will be reinvigorating my blog by asking one of life’s most important questions: When it comes to examples of outlandish fashion, is the result hideous or amazing? (HoA for the cool kids)

Vote however you like: in the poll below, as a comment for the post, twitter (@merrymerimary) or instagram (@MerryLittleWorld) and I’ll tally up the winners as we go…

Kicking things off is Ms Katie Holmes, and her choice of Marchesa (Disney) Met Ball 2014 outfit as seen below. I’m feeling ‘hideous’ but tell me if I’m wrong! 20140508-133301.jpg 20140508-133310.jpg

YSL vs Joy

£180 for YSL vs £8 for Louche

Footwear retailer Duo have launched a competition to promote their newest collection of shoes and boots. Simply pick a pair you love and style them in the way you would like to wear them. My outfit is below after choosing a really versatile pair of black ankle boots just perfect for Autumn and Winter. For more information on the competition click here.

Outift: Grayson suede ankle boot with cuban heel from Duo; Sparkle & Fade silk shirt from Urban Outiftters; Super skinny waxed denim jeans from H & M; Swan cuff gold from Boticca; Turquoise stud earrings from Boticca; Combined leather jacket from Zara.

LFW S/S13 Day 4

For me, Day 4 was all about Burberry Prorsum. Expanding on their archetypal trench coats, they have created a collection where the coat is reimagined in new fabrics and detailing and is absolutely the focus piece. I love the effortlessly cool, classic yet fun look they offer and wish I owned at least half these coats… or even just one!

LFW S/S13 Day 3

The collection I loved most of Day 3 was Temperley London. I love the mix of demure cuts, with high necks and a long skirt lengths, combined with clever sheer elements. And on a personal level this gorgeous collection is right up my street as a pear shape.

Paul Smith offered more dream tailoring, with simple colour blocked pieces perfectly complimenting each other.

And finally, Matthew Williamson showed a vibrant collection with a resort feel, but toned down enough to still seem wearable.
